How to care for your Dracaena Reflexa - Song of India

DATE:July 26, 2020BY:Little Pilea

Dracaena Reflexa, also known as the Song of India Plant, is native to the Indian Ocean islands including Madagascar, Mauritius, and Mozambique. Stunningly beautiful, the Dracaena Relfexa plant is a great house plant to add to your collection.

The plant enjoys bright indirect light. Its favorite spot in the house is a few feet away from a sunny window (either east or west facing one) so it can enjoy few hours of filtered sunlight. However, remember to keep the plant out of strong direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves.

The Song of India plant does not need much water, usually every 7-10 days depending on the indoor climate and lighting. It is best to water the plant well, let the water drain through the bottom, then allow the soil to dry out completely between waterings.

Like its Dracaena relatives, the Song of India plant likes high humidity and temperature around between 65°F and 85°F.

During spring and summer, you can feed your plant liquid fertilizer once a month at a quarter of recommended strength.

This plant is considered toxic to cats and dogs. It is recommended to keep your furries friends away from the plant.
